Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle six items at one time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item scales with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished by many different methods that include using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can enhance a stat by and not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you are in awe of it.
Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item, you will need to salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
